Math T3 W9

Last week for math, our goal was L4: Solve problems with fractions, decimals and ratios using a broad range of strategies. I found adding decimals together quite challenging at first, but I got the hang of it after a while. I did a lot of practise questions, and then I had to create 5 of my own word problems. Here are my problems:

Math Logo!!

This week for math the goal was: identify and use the features of a figure that do not change, as it is reflected, rotated, translated or enlarged. We had to create a logo that like reprentsed us and use reflected, rotated, translated or enlarged to create the logo. I used my initials. Here is my logo:
Have you ever used reflected, rotated, translated or enlarged?

Kowhaiwhai patterns

This week for math the goal was Identify and use the features of a figure that do not change (invariant properties) as it is reflected, rotated, translated or enlarged. We had to create our own Kowhaiwhai patterns. We had to rotate, reflected, enlardge and translate the shape.  These are the patterns I created:

Math T3 W2

Hello and welcome. For math we did problem solving. The question was There are currently three big tree stumps sitting in the way of where the bike track will go. The stump removal company have quoted $253 to get the three tree stumps removed. They are currently running a special of 20% off stump removal for the next week. If we book in during this time. What would the dollar amount of our discount be? What would the total price now be to get the 3 stumps removed? Now that we have calculated the price of removal, the company have made contact and said we can have a further 17% off if we pay in advance, what will the cost now be, if we take up their offer?

Here is my working:

Do you agree with my answer?

Maths T3 W1

Hello and welcome back to my blog.  This week for maths we have been doing problem solving. Our task was to pick between two math questions and finsh one. Me and my math buddy Megan decided to do the second question. The question was, "There are 360 students at St Francis of Assisi School, and 95 of these students are Year 7/8, Kaupeka. Do the Kaupeka students make up more or less than ⅕ of the students at St Francis?" We worked this out in our books and got the answer. Here is the working from my book:

Math Week 5

Hello and welcome to my blog. ('m not sure why I haven't posted this yet) For maths our goal was Collect and display data on a scatter graph, Talk about distinctive features of scatter graphs. We had to collect data and then make a scatter graph about it. I rolled two diffrent size marbles down a ramp and made it bigger each time. I collected all my data and then put it into a scatter graph. Here is my finshed work:

Have you ever made a scatter graph?

Math task Week 4

Hello and welcome back. (I'm not sure why this didn't post ages ago) For maths our goal was Use more than one way to find a theoretical probability Make sensible statements about information with reference to supporting evidence. We had to use a spinning wheel and spin it 50ish times to see how many times it landed on each thing. We then had to write at least 3 clamis about the data. I also added a bar graph. Here is my task:

Have you ever done something similar to this?

Math task Week 11

Hello and welcome to my blog. This week for maths we did something a bit diffrent. We worked in our homebases nd we had to complete 3 maths tasks. One was a must do and two were a can dos. The first task we had to fill out a worksheet about 3D shapes. The secend task I did was called open and shut. You had to predict what nets would make an open box. The final task was called cube creations. We had to get multi link cubes and make 6 diffrent shapes that made a cube. Then you had to draw them onto dot paper.
Here are the links to my tasks:
What was your favourite task I did?

Math task W8

Hello an welcome to my blog. This week for maths we had to pick a level beginner, stepping up or confident. I chose stepping up, and the strategy I chose was place value. We had to watch videos about how to do the strategy then answer 8 questions on a doc. Finally we had to do a DLO showing our learning. Here is my DLO and the link to my working:
