Hello and welcome. Last week for math our goal was Use multiplication and division strategies to solve simple rate problems. We had to work with a buddy to solve rate problems. I worked with Sophie.

Hello and welcome back to my blog. This week for math our goal was: Solve problems with fractions, decimals proportions and ratios using a broad range of strategies (Addition & Subtraction PV Decimal) & (Express remainders as fractions, decimal or whole numbers) (Convert decimals, fractions & %s) 

We had to answer some questions on percentages. I worked with Eilsh and Paige. 

Writing Week 5

Hello and welcome back to my blog. This week for writing we had to finsh off our speechs. I am going to share with you one of my favourite paragraphs from my speech. My speech is on zero hunger. Here is my favourite paragraph: 

I think it's time we do something before it's too late. Shouldn’t we be worried about what will happen if we don’t do anything? We can’t rely on others to do it. I hope that everyone will have food by 2030 and that people will not come home to empty cupboards. We may not be able to completely stop zero hunger but we do have voice so let's work together and make a change. Pope Francis once said “Throwing away food is like stealing from the table of those who are poor and hungry”

Hello and welcome back. For Writing the goals were Understand the purposes for writing and how to achieve those purposes. Select and explore significant ideas, developing main points with specific detail.

We had to pick a topic to do our speech on. I chose zero hunger. Here is some of my writing:

According to the U.N 821 million people are hungry globally. That's right 821 million people! Next time you throw out food, think about how much you're wasting . Other people need this food. Rapid change needs to happen fast because around 9 million people have already died of starvation. Have you ever thrown away perfectly fine food? Yes most people probably have. So we need to stop now.

 Hello and welcome. For math we did problem solving. The question was There are currently three big tree stumps sitting in the way of where the bike track will go. The stump removal company have quoted $253 to get the three tree stumps removed. They are currently running a special of 20% off stump removal for the next week. If we book in during this time. What would the dollar amount of our discount be? What would the total price now be to get the 3 stumps removed? Now that we have calculated the price of removal, the company have made contact and said we can have a further 17% off if we pay in advance, what will the cost now be, if we take up their offer?
